Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

To provide a wali-gated matrimonial service we collect:

• Profile information you submit, including religious practice, marital status, and related matrimonial details.
• Wali contact information for female applicants (name, phone, email, relationship).
• Payment data processed through Whop or another processor offered at checkout. Sakina does not store full card or bank details — only a payment or membership identifier and payment status.
• Conversation content on the platform: wali conversations and messages between matched members, including attachments (images and videos), block reasons, and conversation metadata such as timestamps and read status.
• Language preference and basic technical data, including an IP-derived country code used only for language auto-detection.

2. Why we collect it

We use this data only to operate the wali-based matching service, verify eligibility (including age and marital status), process payments, deliver messages between members, moderate the platform for safety, and communicate service-related information to you and to walis.

3. Messages between members

When you message a match on Sakina, we process the content of your messages and attachments to deliver them to the recipient, to detect and prevent misuse (for example harassment or fraud), to investigate reports and blocks, and to comply with legal obligations. Authorised Sakina staff may access this content for these purposes. We keep messages for as long as needed for these purposes, and for no longer than 12 months after your account is deleted.

Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe.

4. Who can see what

Admins and moderators can view profiles and conversations, including messages and attachments exchanged between matched members, for moderation, safety, and dispute resolution. Messages on Sakina are not end-to-end encrypted. Walis can view the wali conversations involving the applicant(s) under their guardianship; messages between matched members are not shared with walis. Other members can see only the profile fields you have chosen to make visible.

Members on the Standard plan can see the anonymous profile codes of members who opened their full profile. Views made before this feature launched on 4 October 2026 are not shown.

5. Data sub-processors

We rely on the following sub-processors to run the service:

• Supabase — application database, authentication and file storage (including message attachments). Data is hosted in the EU (Paris region).
• Whop — payment processing, together with other processors where offered.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (verification, notifications).
• Telegram — used only for content you explicitly opt to have posted publicly to our channel.
• Meta Platforms — advertising measurement through the Meta Pixel and Conversions API.

6. Data retention

We keep active-account data for as long as your account is open. When an account is closed or suspended, some data may be retained for legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes, consistent with our Terms of Service. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, an export of, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing privacy@sakinabymarkazalfawzaan.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and may need to verify your identity before acting on the request. Certain data may be retained where required to meet legal or safety obligations.

8. Cookies, local storage and advertising measurement

We use essential cookies and local storage for your language preference and authenticated session. We use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API to measure our advertising. This involves sending events such as page views, registrations and purchases, with limited technical identifiers (e.g. browser identifiers and, where permitted, hashed contact details), to Meta. We do not send your profile details, messages, or religious or matrimonial information. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before the Meta Pixel is activated. You can limit ad personalization in your Meta account settings.

9. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mauritius.
