Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

To provide a wali-gated matrimonial service we collect:

• Profile information you submit, including religious practice, marital status, and related matrimonial details.
• Wali contact information for female applicants (name, phone, email, relationship).
• Payment data processed through PayPal. Sakina does not store full card or bank details — only a subscription identifier and payment status returned by PayPal.
• Conversation content within supervised chats on the platform.
• Language preference and basic technical data, including an IP-derived country code used only for language auto-detection.

2. Why we collect it

We use this data only to operate the wali-based matching service, verify eligibility (including age and marital status), process subscription payments, moderate the platform for safety, and communicate service-related information to you and to walis.

3. Who can see what

Admins and moderators can view profiles and conversations for moderation, safety, and dispute resolution. Walis can view conversations involving the applicant(s) under their guardianship. Conversations on Sakina are never unsupervised. Other members can see only the profile fields you have chosen to make visible.

4. Data sub-processors

We rely on the following sub-processors to run the service:

• Supabase — application database, authentication and file storage. Data is hosted in the EU (Paris region).
• PayPal — payment processing for subscriptions.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (verification, notifications).
• Telegram — used only for content you explicitly opt to have posted publicly to our channel.

5. Data retention

We keep active-account data for as long as your account is open. When an account is closed or suspended, some data may be retained for legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes, consistent with our Terms of Service. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, an export of, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing privacy@sakinabymarkazalfawzaan.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and may need to verify your identity before acting on the request. Certain data may be retained where required to meet legal or safety obligations.

7. Cookies and local storage

Sakina uses cookies and local storage only for essential functions: your language preference and your authenticated session. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, or cross-site analytics.

8. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mauritius.
